Have you always believed that success is a matter of hard work, long hours, “nose to the grindstone”, and dedication to the job above all else? This is the model so prevalent in the myths surrounding success. What if this model is no longer true? What if it was never true? What if this model was predicated on a definition of success based on money, fame, and power? What if the word “work” is misleading us to thinking that success involves sacrifice, competition, and winning at the expense of family and peers?

What do you think of when you think of work? Admit it, don’t you get a tightness in the tummy and a whole array of negative feelings? Most of us do. The dreaded Sunday afternoon depression that faces most people as they start to think of the Monday work week is wide-spread.

What if the pre-requisites to your success required that you knew just two things, and that those things were available to you and won’t cost you one cent?

The first fundamental knowledge you’ll require to succeed in life is your Purpose in Life. Purpose is a combination who you are, what you value, what brings you joy, and your unique talents and strengths. When you put all these together you have purpose. And guess what? When you live with purpose, honoring your values, using your unique talents, fulfilling that which calls you, you may find that you describe what you do as play more than work. You’ll put a lot of energy into what you do, but it will be fun.

The second fundamental you’ll need to know is the Law of Attraction; this is how the Universe works, but most of us have it backwards. When you combine Purpose and Attraction, success will find you.

Attracting Success was the topic of June’s Telecoach Discussion. If you missed it, watch this blog for the audio, or send an email to me and I’ll notify you when it’s posted.
