Jon Gordon, motivational speaker and author of The No Complaining Rule and The Energy Bus encourages us to stay positive in tough times, even in the midst of layoffs.

Gordon’s February 9th newsletter offers advice for those dealing with layoffs, whether the affected person is a loved one, employee, co-worker, or yourself.

Gordon’s message is a sound one. The Law of Attraction tells us that we attract more of whatever vibrational energy we emit.

Anger, frustration, bitterness, fear, and feeling victimized will all project very negative vibrations which are likely to bring more of the same. While these emotions are natural and, in fact, help us to heal, it’s important that we not remain immersed in them too long.Converting to positive expectations based on faith, self confidence, and love will help us attract more of what we really want.

Gordon’s message for leadership is especially valuable. A leader or manager involved in the processes of downgrades and layoffs has an opportunity to inspire confidence and hope for the future or accelerate the natural negativity of layoffs. Not that anything a manager can do will put a positive spin on the situation, but that a leaders availability, honesty, compassion, and communication can be positive factors to help everyone move forward more quickly.
